MindHaven for Schools
Decision-maker one-pagerA culturally responsive mental wellness platform for the students who need it most.
The problem
- 42% of high school students reported persistent feelings of sadness or hopelessness in the most recent CDC YRBS.
- Less than 1 in 3 youth experiencing a mental health condition receive any care — even fewer in low-income communities of color.
- 1 counselor per 385 students on average in U.S. public schools — far above the 250:1 recommended ratio.
What MindHaven is
A wellness companion for students: AI chat with memory of mood and journal context, mood tracking, four kinds of journaling, breathing exercises, a Stanley-Brown safety plan builder, a 22-directory therapist finder, five culturally-specific community hubs, and crisis routing on every page (988 + Crisis Text Line). Free to use; works on any phone or Chromebook as a Progressive Web App.
Why this and not a generic wellness app
- Cultural responsiveness is the lead. Black, Latino, AAPI, LGBTQ+, and Indigenous community hubs. Spanish-speaking crisis lines and Latino-led therapist directories are first-class.
- Built by a youth-development practitioner. 16+ years working directly with Brooklyn youth — not a Bay Area wellness brand.
- Crisis routing is built in. Every page surfaces 988 and Crisis Text Line. Counselor referral path configured during pilot kickoff.
- Aggregate-only admin reporting. No individual journals, chats, or mood entries. Students own their data.
The pilot offer
- Free for the pilot semester. For qualifying nonprofits and Title I schools.
- Per-seat licensing only after if you choose to continue. Set with each partner — no surprise add-ons.
- Always free for students directly. Crisis support, the safety plan, and the core wellness toolkit stay free even if your school doesn't continue.

Where we are now (radical transparency)
Live & stable: the full student-facing platform. In active pilot: the school cohort experience, parent letter, anonymous admin reporting. On the roadmap: HIPAA review, SSO (Google for Education / Clever), counselor dashboard, Spanish UI translation. We are pre-launch and we tell schools that up front.
